CAPTCHA exemptions

Users within the CAPTCHA exemptions global user group won't be prompted to enter CAPTCHAs by Extension:ConfirmEdit (for example, when saving a page with new external links in it). This permission is only assigned to users that have demonstrated a need for it. Users may request access to captcha-exempt at Steward requests/Global permissions.

Note that this can be overridden by anti-abuse measures as needed. For example, a community-managed AbuseFilter rule can require that a CAPTCHA be presented to the user making the edit before allowing the edit to be saved. This may take precedence over the general CAPTCHA exemption.

Accepted rationales for granting this right:

• Having to replace/remove/fix removals of images cross-wiki
• Being a sight-impaired person
• Because one is often asked to enter a CAPTCHA when editing other wikis
• If it is clear that the user has no spamming intention and is not a spambot
