The Football Association (the FA) is the organisation that controls English football.

Formed in 1863, it is the oldest football association in the world.[1] It is responsible for overseeing the amateur and professional game in England and the islands of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

The FA is a member of FIFA and UEFA and has a seat in the International Football Association Board (IFAB), which is responsible for the Laws of the Game. The FA is also a member of the British Olympic Association, which means that they also have control over the Great Britain Olympic football team.

The FA has only a little bit of control of the Premier League and the English Football League. Before the 2024–25 season, it directly operated the two top women's leagues, the Women's Super League and Women's Super League 2. However, all professional teams in England, whether men's or women's, are members of the FA.
