My Brightest Diamond is Shara Worden, the daughter of a National Accordian Champion and a church organist. She grew up in Ypsilanti, Michigan, (an area well-documented by labelmate and part-time collaborator Sufjan Stevens), undergoing an eclectic musicial education in the process; today she cites influences as wide-ranging as Spanish tango, Sunday morning gospel, and Debussy. Her delicate, passionate and musically dense material evokes a beautiful fragility, effortlessly reminiscent of Bjork and Polly Harvey. She currently resides in New York, and is promoting her debut album Bring Me The Workhorse (available on Asthmatic Kitty). The profits from her design will benefit Road Recovery.
